Trash or Treasure?

This question of "Trash or Treasure?" came up because of an all town event last weekend. Every year our town has an annual city wide garage sale. There are close to 100 sales going on all over our town. The Chamber of Commerce provides a map and description of all the sales. People come from a long distance for this event. This year my wife decided we would participate by having a sale ourselves. Each of our children contributed stuff for the sale, although only one of them came to help (not a problem just an observation) and I think she only came as a trade off for us to help her paint next week.

The good news: the weather was spectacular. There were a ton of people in town for the sale. We got rid of some stuff. My wife said we would not being this next year.

The bad news: we did a garage sale. We didn't get rid of all the stuff. We spent many hours getting ready for the sale. My wife contributed nearly as much money to other people's sales as we received for ours. We had some real traffic jams in town. (Hey, for our little town this was big stuff. Stop laughing it was a real pain.) Some people are just plain jerks.

What I discovered once again is that one person's trash is another person's "just gotta have". Of course now we have to figure out what to do with the stuff that didn't go away during the sale.

Here's hoping that you discover some treasure this week, even it is in your own garage sale.

Goodwill got most of our leftover stuff after our sale a few weeks ago.....they actually came and picked it up!! Better than packing it all up again until next year...and tax deductible, too!
